Now in its third year, New Latin Wave is a full-fledged platform elevating some of the most compelling Latinx voices in art, music, literature, and film. We invite audiences to support, engage, and learn from our featured lineup of multi-disciplinary talent in the special one-day festival.
New Music Program curated by Angélica Negrón featuring the adventurous PUBLIQuartet (string quartet) performing pieces by 7 emerging composers: Camila Agosto, Ivonne Paredes, Felipe Nieto, Inti Logan Figgis Vizueta, Angélica Negrón and young composers Paloma Dineli (age 11) and Kristal Lopez (age 13). The program showcases the diverse expressions of Latinx composers with pieces full of lyricism, rhythmic interplay, textural explorations. They highlight the multiple stories and experiences of underrepresented voices, including works inspired by the disappeared girls from Juárez, an imaginative tropical dream, a Huanyo melody from the Andes and a family road trip among others. The concert will also feature immersive visuals created for the program by the Chilean artist Andrea Wolf.
